Puddle Pirate Projects Review: BRUNT Workwear Torra Pant
Hey everyone, sorry to make you all wait so long for my next “influencer” review. I was too busy using FaceTune on all my photos and taking pictures in a fake private jet [insert hair flip emoji here]. Just kidding.
That being said, BRUNT Workwear is determined to further my career as an “influencer”—the brand kindly sent me a pair of their Torra work pants in exchange for my honest review. We’ve worked together in the past (you can see my review of the BRUNT Perkins boots here) so I’ve worn them around the shop to give you all a truthful review.
About the Pants: The BRUNT Workwear Torra Pant
Made out of a cotton, polyester, and Spandex blend, the Torra pant is stretchy but still holds its shape. It also features five pockets, articulated knees for easy movement, and reinforced belt loops and tool clip patch. They also come in five different colors, coming in light khaki, tan, brown, gray, and black.
The Torra pant by BRUNT is a pretty standard pair of work pants. Keep in mind, these aren’t technically “carpenter pants” so they don’t have extra features like a hammer loop or cargo pockets.
As it turns out, there’s a reason for this. The Torra pant is named after BRUNT Workwear founder and CEO Eric Girouard’s friend, Tony Torra, who is a US Army Veteran, blue collar worker, and motorcycle enthusiast. Designed with him in mind, the Torra pant is intended to be “comfortable enough to work in and stylish enough to hit the town in.”
Now for my honest review…
BRUNT Workwear sent me the Torra pant in December, so in my month or so of wearing them, I can say I legitimately really like them.
First of all, these things are wicked comfy. Most of the work pants I’ve worn end up being rather stiff, which makes sense because they’re intended to be durable, but the Torra pants aren’t stiff at all. They’re soft and the cut makes it easy to move around in, which I suppose is due in part to the stitching around the knees, thighs, and ankles. I’ve had no issues feeling uncomfortable when bending down for long periods of time to work on a piece, which can happen with some of my less flexible work pants.
I also really like the reinforced edges around the top edges of the pockets, tool clip, and belt loops. These are great for someone like me who is always wearing a pocket knife, razor knife or flip out bottle opener.
Even more, BRUNT Workwear’s Torra pants look great. If I wasn’t covered in sawdust all the time, I would definitely be able to wear these to a (semi) nice restaurant. I also love that they’re inspired by a fellow Veteran, which is an added bonus.
The only negative thing about BRUNT Workwear’s Torra pants is the zipper. While it hasn’t given me problems, it doesn’t feel as well built as the rest of the pants. I’m worried the first thing to fail on these pants will be the zipper. With any luck, it won’t.
Overall, I think the Torra pants from BRUNT Workwear are a solid pair of work pants and I am really impressed with them. Honestly, these pants are so nice that I’m almost afraid to wear them in the shop—I don’t want to mess up such a nice pair of work pants!
